Illness and Identity
How is Northwestern’s approach to Health Communication different from Public Health?
Both Health Communication and Public Health work to promote and protect the health of people and communities. While both disciplines work closely together, our methods and theoretical approaches are different. Similarly, when it comes to post-program employment, MSHC and MPH grads may both seek public sector roles involving health campaigns, population health, health education or message design, and health policy. However, MSHC grads may seek more private sector roles in healthcare startups and companies.
