Why did you choose the MS Health Communication Program at Northwestern University?

I chose the MSHC program at Northwestern because I wanted to continue my education and eventually transition into healthcare without having to quit my full-time job. After attending an info session, I quickly felt the support and enthusiasm of the staff and the alumni in the room and knew that it was the next step in my journey. Joining this program has extended my professional network exponentially, and I’m so excited for the career opportunities that lie ahead!

What are your career goals?

Following the completion of the MSHC program, I want to work for a company that values creative, innovative thinking and supports ideas that will bring awareness to the rising rate of suicide in the US. My goal is to promote mental health literacy in schools and change negative attitudes associated with mental health problems.

What is your favorite part of the program so far?

I love coming to class every Saturday and sharing a space with so many inspiring people! My professors, the guest speakers that have visited, and my cohorts all come from such diverse backgrounds and bring years of healthcare experience to the classroom. I’ve really enjoyed learning from them and making connections that will last long after graduation.

Any tips on balancing school, work, and life?

Good time management is so important. Take care of yourself, be resourceful and don’t be afraid to ask for help.
