Why did you choose the MS Health Communication Program at Northwestern University?

I chose the MS in Health Communication program at Northwestern because I felt like the staff I met during the information session really wanted me to be successful in the health communication field, and they were willing to hear about what success in that field looked life for me and how they could help me achieve that.

What are your career goals?

I aspire to help disadvantaged communities recognize and receive high quality healthcare by improving education and literacy.

What is your favorite part of the program so far?

My favorite part of the program so far is the comradery that we have formed within my cohort. As a person who is new to the Midwest it is nice to have a mix of like-minded people I can call on.

Any tips on balancing school, work, and life?

In regards to balancing schoolwork and life I would say make sure you are real with yourself and your values when you sit down and write a schedule. Make sure you schedule time to relax and time to be social.

Is there any additional advice or information that you would share?

I would say it is okay to take a leap even if it scares you. There are people apart of this program who want nothing more than to see you achieve whatever goals you have for yourself. Be willing to step out of your comfort zone in the name of growth and understand the long term benefits of short term sacrifice. “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”-Nelson Mandela
