Undergraduate Major: Community Health

Type of Work: Patient Advocate at an insurance Third Party Administrator. In this role, I advocate for our members when they are experiencing chronic and catastrophic health problems.

Why did you choose the MS Health Communication Program at Northwestern University?

I want to improve and develop my communication skills in order to better advocate for my members. Unlike other programs, the MS Health Communication program at Northwestern University provides the flexibility to accommodate my full time work schedule.

What are your career goals?

I would like to continue to develop my skills as a healthcare professional in order to work towards a career in healthcare consulting.

What is your favorite part of the program so far?

I am very happy to have made relationships with individuals in my cohort. Simply by speaking with my classmates, I am learning so much about different areas of healthcare that I did not know much about previously.

Any tips on balancing school, work, and life?

With life, school and work it is very easy to lose track of assignments that are due. I keep a schedule of priorities and assignment due dates in order to not lose track of time.
