Generally, a one page resume is best unless you have extensive professional experience.

Submit transcripts from any undergraduate and/or post-graduate institutions from which you have graduated.

You may upload an unofficial transcript for the admissions review. If you prefer, you may send in your official transcript separately to or to the MSHC office at the address below.  If you send in your transcript separately, you do not need to upload a transcript file in your application.

All admitted students must send in an official transcript prior to enrollment.

All students who completed a bachelor’s or advanced degree outside of the U.S. must submit an ECE or WES course-by-course verified transcript. Order the course-by-course transcript at or and send it to the MSHC office at the address below.

Your Statement of Purpose should be approximately 500-600 words in length, describing why you are applying to the Master of Science in Health Communication program as related to your background, career aspirations, personal and professional qualities, and potential contributions that you will bring to the classroom.

Submit the names and email addresses of three (3) people who will submit recommendations for you. Recommenders should be familiar with your professional or academic work and should be able to comment meaningfully on your potential for success in a graduate course of study.

You will enter three names and three email addresses in the online application. Once you hit “submit” under each name, the application system will email that person with information on how to submit a recommendation form on your behalf. Once your recommenders receive the form, they will complete and submit it. All recommendation forms come directly to the program office. You can track the progress of your application within the application portal.

If you would like to report standardized test scores, record your scores in the online application and send an official score report to the MSHC office.

The GRE code for the MSHC program is 1539. Other official test reports may be sent to:

TOEFL scores are required if your native language is not English or if the language of instruction at your undergraduate institution was not English. Test scores are valid for two years from the date you took the test to the date of application. We require a minimum overall score of 100. The TOEFL code for the MSHC program is 6397.

The interview is the final component of an application. Once you have submitted your online application, the MSHC Admissions Committee will conduct an initial review and determine whether or not to extend an interview invitation. Some applicants will not progress to the interview stage.

If you are invited to interview, you will receive an email with instructions for scheduling. Interviews are conducted in the MSHC office, or virtually in a video call. In-person is preferred when possible, though the virtual meeting is acceptable if your location or schedule prohibit an in-person meeting.

You will receive an admissions decision over email about 1 month after all components of the application are complete.
