Why did you choose the MS Health Communication Program at Northwestern University?

I chose the MSHC program at Northwestern because meeting with a consortium of talented people once a week is a great way to learn. Communication in healthcare is crucial and lacking. Class on Saturday allows me to continue my daily work uninterrupted while studying this valuable field.

What are your career goals?

My twenty-five years in the HealthCare Cost Containment business have helped me identify areas of Health communication that need attention such as disproportionate availability of services. My goal is to apply what I learn there.

What is your favorite part of the program so far?

Saturdays! The information presented is interesting and cogent for what is happening in the health care arena right now. The insights of my student colleagues are incredibly perceptive.

Any tips on balancing school, work, and life?

Enjoy your social and work lives while being in school. Bizarrely, juggling all three lives is a way to fight academia’s echo chamber and avoid burn out.

Is there any additional advice or information that you would share?
